Bay of Bengal Power Company (BBPCL) stands as a collaborative venture between Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and China Huadian HongKong Co. Ltd. (CHDHK), charting a course towards a dynamic energy future for Bangladesh. Originally conceived to establish a 1320 MW coal-based Ultra Super Critical Power Plant in Maheshkhali, Cox's Bazar, BBPCL has adapted its strategy in response to evolving national energy policies. With the government's directive to diversify the primary fuel mix, BBPCL has pivoted towards Gas/RLNG-based Combined Cycle Power Plants (CCPP) and solar energy initiatives. The ongoing development of a 160 MW (AC) Grid-Tied Solar Power project signifies BBPCL's commitment to sustainable energy generation, poised to transform Maheshkhali into a vibrant energy hub. Supported by equal equity from its promoters and bolstered by government endorsement, BBPCL is poised to drive significant progress in Bangladesh's energy landscape, heralding a new era of innovation and sustainability.
